Kids Art Camp

I taught a Summer Art Camp for 6 young friends at The Art Studio New York. The girls all loved painting (who doesn’t), and so that’s what we mostly did.

Besides that we experimented with charcoal and dug our hands into some clay, creating animal pinch-pots and other fun objects.

Food Illustration: Illustrate Your Own Recipe

A workshop for everyone who loves food; for foodies, crafters, artists, creators, and kitchen masters. Over the course of two hours we created a beautiful range of some yummy illustrated ingredients and dishes.

We started off with some warm-up drawing exercises and techniques. These excersizes had a focus on working with different art mediums and look at how to capture food illustration.

After that looked at everyone’s favourite recipes and how to turn them into beautiful cookbook worthy illustrations: how to arrange your ingredients on you page (composition), as well as use of color and text and what medium or style.

Mixed Media & Collage Illustration Workshop – Brooklyn Brainery

June kicked off with a great workshop at the Brooklyn Brainery. This mixed media and collage workshop is perfect if you love creating art or illustration, but feel limited in your drawing skills, or if you want to try something new.

We decided to all work on a similar image; as a warming up exercise I asked the group to create 2 – 3 different flowers, which we started off by creating our own collage material, and combining those with magazines, and patterned paper. After that images of birds, cat’s and even a teapot pouring tea into winterboots were created. Loved it.
