Another student gallery from a very fun Recipe Illustration workshop at the Brooklyn Brainery. Although the 2 hour classes are great, I somewhat felt that it didn’t allow for enough time to actually create the artwork.
So this time we ran one that was 3 hours instead of 2. Which was great because it allowed for a larger focus on illustration and design exercises and more time to get into action. The feedback was great, everyone loved the fact that they had plenty of time to work on their recipes. As it always takes a little while to get into the process of creating.
A workshop for everyone who loves food; for foodies, crafters, artists, creators, and kitchen masters. Over the course of two hours we created a beautiful range of some yummy illustrated ingredients and dishes.
We started off with some warm-up drawing exercises and techniques. These excersizes had a focus on working with different art mediums and look at how to capture food illustration.
After that looked at everyone’s favourite recipes and how to turn them into beautiful cookbook worthy illustrations: how to arrange your ingredients on you page (composition), as well as use of color and text and what medium or style.
